Screw eyes are a non picture framing fitting that can be adequately adapted to picture framing use. They are a piece of wire bent into a loop with one end threaded.
Generally the threaded end is screwed into the back of a frame to perform the task of a D ring where one cant be sourced. They usually benefit from being put into a pre drilled hole as they are fairly weak. And care should be taken when choosing where they hang, as they can damage walls & make your picture hang out from vertical if improperly used.
