A dab hand.
Because KIT Frame requires you to complete a lot of the work yourself, you will need to be generally handy and have a few basic tools.
Good eye-sight or strong glasses help in both the measuring up of your work and in the gleaning of the glass.
Measuring skills.
Make sure you're confident in your ability to measure the works. Remember to add borders onto both sides of your picture if it is having one. While all picture framers would be able to work with inches and feet, the vast majority use millimetres. Kit frame uses them exclusively

Work space.
Assembling frames can take up a lot of space. You should set yourself up in a relatively clean environment with the largest work bench you can get your hands on.
Warning sharp!
It should come as no surprise to most people that glass can be sharp. Take extreme caution while handling it especially if it gets broken. Blades of all kinds should be sharp in order to work properly. So if you think cutting yourself may be a problem... Get your framing done in entirety by a professional.
Lights, camera...
Your picture will look a lot better if the glass is clean and no annoying little specks make their way onto the mat. Get yourself some bright light and these problems will present themselves straight away, instead of hiding until your about to put the frame on the wall.
Lead time.
Keep in good contact with all people involved with your deadline, including, Assessors, curators & couriers.
